Mole removal
Mole Removal Laser mole removal is a medical procedure that uses laser energy to destroy mole tissue (or the melanin pigment in moles) without surgery. This method is popular because it provides good results, small wounds, and short recovery time.
Laser Mole Removal
It is a process that uses energy from laser light to the area of the skin where there is a mole to destroy the pigment cells or cells of the mole, causing the mole to fade or eventually fall off. It is generally used for moles that are not malignant and are shallow or not very deep. LANNA
What are some ways to remove moles?
1. Cutting and suturing (excision)
2. Electrosurgery – not popular at present
3. Cryotherapy (Liquid nitrogen) – not popular at present
The most popular method is the use of a carbon dioxide laser (CO2 Laser), which is a machine that emits high heat, causing the solid to evaporate into vapor. The carbon dioxide laser’s beam is very small, allowing it to remove unwanted tissue in detail and precisely. It can be used to remove moles, freckles, skin tags, enlarged sebaceous glands, and acne vulgaris, etc. It is suitable for small to medium sized
lesions.
What causes moles and freckles?
Melanocytes, or pigment-producing cells, are overgrowths of melanocytes on the skin. Moles are raised bumps, while freckles are flat. Most people are born with moles or freckles, but some people develop them later in life. They can appear anywhere on the skin. They are usually a single color, such as dark brown or black. They can be round or oval in shape, and can be flat or raised.
Mole Removal Laser Procedure
1. The doctor examines the skin condition and characteristics of the mole to determine whether the mole is a common mole or at risk of skin cancer.
2. Skin preparation: The doctor will clean the area to be lasered and may apply anesthetic or inject anesthetic to make it feel painless.
3. Laser shooting: The laser emits high-energy light to destroy the melanin pigment in the mole, causing the mole to gradually fade or fall off.
4. Aftercare: The treated area may develop thin scabs. Avoid sunlight and apply medication as advised by the doctor.
Does laser mole removal hurt?
Laser mole removal is considered to be the removal of excess skin tissue, so anesthesia is used. During the procedure, there is no pain or only a slight feeling. If the pain is unbearable, you can inform the doctor so that the laser energy can be adjusted to suit your skin condition.
Advantages of laser mole removal with CO2 Laser
1. Takes about 5 minutes per session, depending on the area being treated and the difficulty of the treatment.
2. Small wounds, low chance of scarring, results can be seen from the first session.
3. Wounds heal quickly, scabs fall off within 7 days.
4. Can cauterize moles, freckles or skin tags.
5. It is a safe technology that can be done on any part of the body.
Limitations of CO2 Laser
• Can be used on shallow or small moles only
• May require multiple treatments in some cases.
• Not suitable for deep or irregular moles.
• May cause slight temporary redness after treatment.
What to do after mole removal with CO2 Laser
1. Avoid getting the area treated with laser mole removal wet for 24 hours.
2. After 24 hours, you can only get water on it.
3. Avoid getting soap or facial foam on it until the scabs fall off. Scabs on the face will fall off in about 5-7 days / scabs on the body will fall off.
Possible side effects of CO2 laser
Very little. After the procedure, there may be a small red mark, which will heal on its own within two days after the procedure. Or in some cases, a scab may form, which will fall off on its own within 5-7 days. During this time, you should not pick, scratch, or scratch the scab area, because it will make the wound heal slower than normal or risk infection. Even though the wound after laser treatment is very small, there is still a chance of infection. Therefore, you should strictly apply an antiseptic to the wound as instructed by the doctor until the wound is completely healed.
